The Gift by Kathi Dugan
A stuffed koala bear tightly hugs his precious chocolate bar as he makes his way through the teeming jungle, bearing his gift for the one he loves.
The model for this endearing koala came to me as a "cheer up" gift from a friend, and he did arrive clutching the chocolate Hersey's bar. Loathe to ruin the ever so cute image created by the odd coupling, I decided to paint them before the candy bar was devoured. I gave the little bear his own lasting, immortal love story. With the exception of the elephant, every other stuffed animal modeled in the jungle scene belonged to my grandchildren. Unable to find the toy elephant I had desired to use, and impatient to finish the painting, I invented my own little purple water shooter.
Perhaps your child has had favorite toys that you know you should get rid of but you just can't seem to put away because of the fond memories surrounding them? I would be happy to memorialize your items in a painting, allowing you and your child to keep them and pack/ tuck/give them away, at the same time. I can help you create an interesting and fun story to go with them, making it a much more sensible way to keep their favorite items on display!
If you would like an illustration of your own items painted into a fantasy setting, please take a look at "Prices/ General Information" and feel free to contact the artist. The artist is happy to create commissioned pieces.
