BUG LIGHT by Kathi Dugan

Duxbury's "Bug Light" in Plymouth Harbor flashes it's light against the vivid pink and purple sunset, faithfully warning boats of dangerous shoals. Constructed in 1871 and automated in 1964, Bug Light is a familiar icon to Boston's South Shore community. Almost replaced at one point by a fiberglass light pole, the community rallied to save it. The effort was spearheaded by Dolly Snow Bicknell, the daughter of Edward Rowe Snow, a well known and loved historian, author, story teller and "Lighthouse Santa" in the New England area.
The artist caught this image of Bug Light on the return from company outing on a fishing cruise through Plymouth Harbor.
If you have a snapshot of a place special to you and would like to see your photo turned into a painting, please feel free to contact the artist. Kathi Dugan is happy to accept commissions.
